Work Groups

  • Legislative SWAT
Our Legislative SWAT Team positions VACEP as an authoritative voice on emergency care. Our #1 initiative is to impact health in the Commonwealth by reviewing legislation and regulations while advocating for the professional interests of our members. This work group actively participates in the legislative and regulatory processes, while occasionally being called on to testify during General Assembly and agency meetings. The team works with our lobbyist, Aimee Perron Seibert, to strategize on immediate and long-term solutions to problems in the Commonwealth.
  • Social Media Outreach
One of VACEP’s four initiatives is connecting VACEP’s activities with Virginia’s emergency physicians. Our Social Media Outreach Team does this by experimenting with multiple distribution channels to find the most effective way to reach our busy emergency physicians.
  • Research Surveys
Our Research Surveys group regularly does research to uncover solutions to health issues. They also have private conversations with physicians to focus on things that matter to EMPs.
  • Public Relations – Media Group
Our Public Relations/Media Group positions VACEP as an authoritative voice on emergency care and issues that impact health in the Commonwealth. They find ways to communicate with multiple audiences via social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and advocacy platforms like Phone2Action.
  • Physician Extenders & Fellowships
The Physician Extenders & Fellowships Group oversees VACEP’s Leadership & Advocacy Fellowship. This group also builds alliances and reaches out to all those that influence the House of Medicine.
  • Education
Our Education Group plans the Annual CME Conference, hosted at the Omni Homestead Resort. They also plan regional networking gatherings around Virginia for our physicians.
  • Pain & Palliative Medicine
The Pain & Palliative Medicine Group focuses on end of life issues.
