As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, but Virginia starts to ease restrictions, VACEP will bring you “One Important Thing” to know each week. We recognize you are inundated with information, and we strive to keep these communications short and informative.

One Important Thing: Virginia's Reopening could begin as soon as next Friday, May 15. People will start to leave the safety of their homes; as such, expect emergency department volumes to increase. "Phase One" is expected to last at least two weeks.

Details:

  • Virginia’s “Stay at Home” order will become “Safer at Home.”

  • There will be more motor vehicles on the road.

  • Restaurants, businesses, and places of worship will be permitted — but not required — to reopen with restrictions.

  • Gatherings remain 10 people or less, and all are encouraged to practice social distancing, telework, and use face coverings.

  • Doctors' offices and hospitals are safe.

  • PPE is sufficient and sustainable.
