VACEP partners with Ruggles for association management
There’s new day-to-day association leadership in place at VACEP.
Effective August 1, VACEP signed a full-service management agreement with Ruggles Service Corp. Based in Richmond, Ruggles has specialized in managing only state and national medical societies for nearly 50 years. The company, founded in 1974, signed its first account with the Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists, which is still managed by Ruggles.
Ruggles’ Andrew Mann will serve as VACEP’s Association Executive, while Ruggles’ owner, Stewart Hinckley, takes the role as Executive Director. Ruggles also manages the Psychiatric Society of Virginia (for the past 12 years) and the Virginia Orthopaedic Society (for the past 21 years).
“Since the start, we’ve taken great pride in our work to offer medical societies a vast range of services to promote their growth, strength, and integrity,” Hinckley says. “Ultimately, every decision VACEP makes is up to the Board, but we are here to guide them and support them with strategies to increase and retain members, deploy current and proven technologies, offer shared purchasing power, and provide outstanding meeting management. VACEP members will know us as staff, not as an association management company.”
VACEP’s Board of Directors and member leadership remains the same, with Todd Parker, MD, FACEP serving as president. He will be succeeded in 2024 by president-elect Jesse Spangler, MD, FACEP. Joran Sequeira, MD, FACEP recently took over as treasurer, while David Fosnocht, MD, FACEP serves as secretary. Cameron Olderog, MD, FACEP is the immediate past-president.
Ruggles has a staff of 20 full-time employees with many handling some aspect of VACEP’s day-to-day business: meeting planning, membership development, corporate support, graphic design, information technology, website and app development, financial services and more.
